Ak Guy
I don't have enough flexibility in my wrist to draw from a forward-cant holster (muzzle rearward) without throwing my shoulder forward a little, or slightly bending at the waist, or some of both. Is this considered OK form for IDPA / IPSC, or should I change holsters toward more of a straight drop (vertical gun) until I can draw without forward shoulder movement? Thanx for any input......... rhino
I would get a straight drop holster if I were you. All of the extra motion is wasted motion that does nothing positive and may slow you down a bit. You might also try a holster that ride a bit lower on your belt in addition to the straight drop. tightloop
What Rhino said, but why do you have a holster with an FBI cant now?...
mcoliver
I used to use kydex holsters before. Then I "upgraded" to a race rig that can be set way low. Recently, I had the chance to use the kydex again and realized I need more shoulder movement and waist bending to get the gun out. Timer reads out that I draw at the same speed. Ak Guy
Tightloop.......I guess the short answer would be: because I didn't know any better. (It sure is good looking though !!)
Sam
I ditto the Rhino too! AK, you can pick up an Uncle Mikes or Bladetec injection molded rig for about $20. They are both straight drop. Both are IDPA legal and plenty fast. A lot of guys report sub 1 sec draws with these holsters. You can experiment with different positions fore and aft on the belt to work out the shoulder/wrist angle.
tightloop
7 yds, out of the holster, A hit, 1911, .45, Bladetech, consistently around .83....like Sam said, plenty fast...
