jdlincoln
If, I chronograph at 30-35F, but keep the ammo warm to 70-80F untill just before shooting, can I expect a similar FPS at 70-80F? Or, will metal contraction, ie: barrel, and air temp/chrono temp also affect the result? Using a ProChrono Digital. Trying to work up some loads this winter that can be used next spring, summer, fall. Thanks, JD
Hi-Power Jack
Are you seriously expecting the temperature to get up to 35 F anytime soon? You will probably have to chrono loads at 0 - 10 F. Seriously, I've had the same question - will love to see what the experts think. I'd GUESS that the temp of the gun is part of the equation .... IMHO. RePete
Maybe, but I doubt it. Test now but test again at 70.
jdlincoln
Haven given this a little more thought, it's supposed to be mid thirties tomorrow when I go to the range. Me thinks that if I run some ammo through the pistol before the chrono loads that should take care of the pistol being cold part of the test. ??
