theblacknight
My Hornady pro-jector is getting put out to pasture due to a priming issue. Will my new Hornady dies (9mm) and powder measure work on a Dillon 650? Also, I 100% fit Brian's criteria for who should be on a 650, so I dont need any "get a 550b!" posts. Mbauer67
Your dies will work, the powder measure will not. I second going directly for the 650, just pay attention to detail.

TonyK
650 was my first press and really glad I bought it..... Just order yours without dies (it still comes with the powder measure) but specify 9mm and it will come with the right funnel and primer set up already on it. Hornady powder cop works just fine in it as well.... Edited December 28, 2013 by TonyK

Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't a Hornady powder measure work on a 650?

TonyK
I don't have any experience with the Hornady powder measure but if it operates just like the Dillon ie dispenses powder as the case pushes up against the funnel that flares the case it might.... But there could be clearance issues as the Dillon hopper is offset to the front and I think yours might be directly over the funnel, just have to rely someone who has both. But if you are going to get the 650 it comes with one anyway so you wouldn't be put off waiting to mod a powder drop. The Dillon also has a rod to reset the powder bar that you may find helpful.... wgj3
As mentioned, just order from Brian set up for 9mm and sell the parts you don't need. Sell the H powder measure and use the "blue" one (I'm aware that there isn't actually any blue on the powder measure itself...)
98sr20ve
No reason for the Powder Measure to not work. I don't think the old ones flare at the same time. But I would just start with the Dies you have and use the Dillon Powder Measure till you get the feel for it. Then try the Hornady. I prefer the Dillon Powder Funnel setup but Hornady's newer Powder measure with the Micro Meter adjuster is pretty nice.

I am sure with enough effort and resources one could get the hornady powder to work on a 650. But my point was it will not a direct functional bolt onto the Dillion. The main difference being the fail safe rod assembly. If you get the 650 it is probably best to the the Dillion powder measure and sell the rest
