"Slick" Recoil Pad

I need some suggestions on a recoil pad that won't snag on my shirt. My SX2 has a nice soft recoil pad but every time I go to mount it the grippy pad snags on my shirt. I don't mind fitting it to the stock. Any help is appreciated.

You might want to check out a product called: Easy Glide Recoil Pad Coating.

IIRC, Limb Saver used to sell a coating that you could brush on like finger nail polish and it helped reduce the snag. Just apply it to the top and sides so that when the gun is mounted the rubber can grip and not slide off.

It came with a pad I installed years ago but I don't see it listed anymore.

I know how you feel on the stickiness. .

I felt that Techwear jersey+ Rubber pad on JM Pro.. sticky when mounting and dismounting.

Here's what I found:: Duct tape, specifically "Woodland camo" Hehe. Ugly but effective temporarily

Also, Pachmayr sells a “sporting clay” pad that has a harder insert at the top to help the pad slide up without hanging

Thanks, I might have to get that, even though $30 is steep....

Sporting clays shooters often wrap the sides of the recoil pad with black electrical tape to help with their mount.

Most of us 3gunners grind off that sharp bottom corner of the recoil pad. I guess it depends on what pad you have...wether it can be ground.

I've gone the duct tape route myself. I opted for red simply because it's the fastest color.

Yep, all sound advice. I had the same problem. I rounded off the bottom corner and then wrapped electrical tape around the outside so that the rubber was only exposed on the back. No more snags and it doesn't look too bad.

I use a Kick Killer slip on recoil pad on my O/U that would likely work. The surface is smooth leather and has pretty much no grip. Unlike some of the other slip on pads, it doesn't add much to the LOP either.
