EricW
I hate people who hate kids because their parents / educators / role models are blithering morons. No, I don't have kids, but I've spent a lot of time with kids back in the days when I coached soccer (plus the kids of family and friends). In doing so, I learned two things: 1) Children are born smart 2) Extensive exposure to adults renders them stupid Hate what today's youth has become? Look in the mirror. diehli
There's a difference between hating kids and hating being around kids.
EricW
Kids are obnoxious because adults make them that way. For all of you who hate flying with kids, fly to Mexico as one of the few gringos on board sometime. You will be impressed. I guarantee it. diehli
Granted there are exceptions, but in general adults have better impulse control than kids. People (child or adult) are never going to act perfectly all of the time and oftentimes kids pick up adults' bad habits and exhibit them over and over and over again. I think there's also a feeling of helplessness with children. While an adult that's being slightly rude can be reasoned with (again, unless we're dealing with a total a$$hole), people have to resort to the parents, which, most of the time just don't give a shit or feel incapable of handling the situation. I'm not disagreeing with what you originally posted. I'm saying that it's not a matter of disliking kids, it's a matter of disliking being around kids when they're parents don't control them... which, lately, is more often than not. BTW, I was one of those little bastards that was uncontrollable.

Liota
Eric, I think you're singing to the choir for the most part, or at least I can hear you singing. As a training instructor for the AF, I see the best and the worst we get from school and home. The trainees are not dumb, just not used to being held accountable for when they screw up. Some adult somewhere tells them it's not their fault. It's because ____________fill-in-the-blank__________ did or didn't do something. Learning about accountability and the consequences of your actions is a great part of maturing. A lot of kids just don't get that lesson taught at a young age. It sucks. I hate it. I hate it even worse when people look strangely at someone who does take responsibility. Seen it happen and wasn't impressed. Liota

Dead Buff
EricW: I agree with you completely. Its adults (or wannabe adults) that teach kids the ways of the world. If the basics are wrong how can you expect the deductions to be right?

Skywalker
Since we (myself included) basically agree on the subject topic, why don't we all start "educating" adults? Me, I'd like to apply to adults the same methods used to educate children...only adjusted to the bigger size of them...

Dead Buff
If the solution isn't "final" we're only treating symptoms and not removing the cause, thus wasting time and effort.
