Classifier question

Recommended Posts

I'm a fairly new shooter and recently classified as marksman in SSP. If I shoot another classifier in a few weeks and don't do as well do I fall back to novice or do I keep the higher rank? What about if I shoot it with my 1911, does that impact my SSP rating?

You keep your top class. Downgrading is only allowed in cases of physical disability. I know one case.

You can have different classifications in different divisions but only one step apart. You could be a SSP Marksman and a CDP Sharpshooter, but not a marksman in one and an expert in another. I don't think the policy applies to revolvers. You could be a SSP Marksman and a SSR Novice.

Wow thanks for the quick feedback. Maybe I'll give the 1911 a try anyway, but nice to know I don't have to worry about having a bad day if I go with the Beretta 92FS or Glock G22. Thanks.

Your 1911 would fall into ESP or CDP class. It isn't legal in SSP and won't be counted against your SSP score. Unless you shoot an Expert score with the 1911 (ESP/CDP) it will not affect your SSP classification.
