ac4wordplay
... You can google up Ed Mcgivern who proved that revo was faster and stayed with it. ... Arguments about timing methods/accuracy/precision used in McGivern's 1932 record aside, I'm not sure I understand how it technically qualifies as proof that a/the revolver is faster than a/the semi-auto. (I'm not being argumentative, and I have no interest in defending the semi-auto, I just want to understand the position and see if it's a logical/valid argument.) Thanks, ac
jmbaccolyte
I'd rather look at which platform (revo or single action semi) rules in head to head unlimited competition nowadays instead of how fast one or two people were. Jerry Miculek and Ed McGivern are/were anomalies and they might have been even faster with the same amount of practice time with good SA semiautos. For example, I love NASCAR, but in head to head competition without the rules interferring, wouldn't Indycars or Formula 1 cars rule the roost? F-1 cars put out the same hp and weigh 2/3 less and have much better aerodynamics. Edited October 16, 2013 by jmbaccolyte
