ZombieHunter
I prefer Clays or Claydot in both 45 and 9mm, but good luck finding it. Powder Valley told me I wouldn't see anymore until 2014. For a new loader, 231 is probably one of the best; it works very well in many calibers including 9mm and 45 ACP. But for one powder for both I prefer these in order - they all meet bottom end of Major PF in 45 and the bottom end of minor PF in 9mm (very soft shooting): Hodgdon Clays Alliant Claydot (VERY if not identical performance to Hodgdon Clays) VV N310 VV N320 WSF is also very good in 9mm .. not my favorite in 45, unless you need full-house loads. I currently load WSF in 9mm, and Clays in 45. However, once I finished my 8 lbs worth of WSF, I'll be loading Clays or Claydot in both calibers. Clays also works well in 40. I shoot with many competitors (including the 1994 National USPSA Open Champion, and current top A class rated SS shooter) that uses Clays exclusively for their limited and SS guns. So, that should tell you something.

stick
For an experienced reloader Titegroup is awesome. For a new reloader W231 is a good starting point. If you use a Dillon 650 the powder check die is worth its weight in gold.
