steviesterno
hey guys, I recently picked up a railed duty one frame to do my own HD/competition gun build over the next year or so. I currently have a 5" baer I compete with, and I've had a LW champion and some smaller 1911s before that I carried or kept around the house. But between looking at these different builds online and my 6" limited 2011, I'm half tempted to build a 6" single stack. Is that crazy? I know it's not single stack or IDPA legal, but could be run in L10 or steel challenge stuff. Plus I'm thinking that extra sight radius would help aim, and weight out front control recoil, making it fun for target shooting or keeping next to the bed. Any reason to do this or am I just being dumb?
Dr. Phil
I love my 6" 9mm 1911! I have 3 1/2, 4, and 5" guns besides and the 6" acts more like a compensated gun. Nice balance, etc. All good! Mine has a C-MORE and I use it for steel. Awesome platform!! Besides, you will be 1 gun closer to having 1 in every length... Now, for that 7" I've been thinking about... chrisjohn
Use a 6 inch Sti trojan for L10. ff by Benny Hill, fantastic. STi poorly fit the barrel feet and the sheared off in about 2k. Shame on you still. 6 inch guns are fantastic.
Steve RA
And you can always say "my gun is longer than your gun" !!!
Aircooled6racer
Hello: You can use one for target shooting. I believe a shooter named " The Great One" or somebody like that uses one for limited 10 still. Thanks, Eric

38superfan
I'm in the middle of a 6"SS 38 super. They feel and hang out front perfect to me. Mine is for fun and longer range target shooting. Mainly because I've always wanted one. Bought an old kimber target for other"useful"purposes. I say go for it! RangerTrace
My 6" Limited gun is my most shot, highest round count gun....(just went over 18K rounds). I love the sight radius. I've handled and shot a few 6" SS 9MM pistols that were going to Spain.....They were pretty sweet too!! I say DO IT!
steviesterno
Should have known better than to ask "should I?" On Enos. Can't seem to find a reason not to! I'll try and see if my 6" slide fits on the frame later today, and if so I'll run around the house a little and see how I like it. Ok, any good places to get a mostly fit 6" upper? Still tying to decide caliber. I love 45 and have mags. I load 40 minor and that's fun, and I will be loading 9mm here shortly
38superfan
Go with what you'd prefer. I'm going with super because it can take advantage of the extra inch.
mpolans
You could use it for NRA Action Pistol in the metallic sight division.
walnutty
I have a SA longslide that SA refitted with a new match barrel and slide/frame tightened. This gun is pure awesome to shoot even with heavy loads. I feel like I'm cheating everytime I shoot this.

Biloxi23
I have two six inch Limited guns and a five inch Limited. I almost do not shoot the older 6" and the 5" guns. the extra inch of sight radius helps my corrected vision focus on the front sight.
