Glock Sights

I have a Glock 34 that I'd like to replace the sights on. I am used to shooting Meprolight sights on a Kimber. I intend to use the Glock for USPSA and 3gun competition. What sights would you recommend for my Glock?

Fiber sights seem to be the most popular. I am right handed and left eye dominate. However, being right handed (and often somewhat forced to use my right eye), I feel that while for sure left eye dominate (at least when I do any "test), it's not dominate by much (ie my vision will often kind of bounce and switch back and forth). While I've never shot a pistol with Fiber sights, the few times I have picked up a friends pistol with Fiber sights (at least a front fiber sight), my right eye "picks up" / sees a lot of the side of fiber "thread" on an angle (while the sights are aligned with my left eye). The side and length of the front sight fiber I am able to see with my right eye seems to end up being more distracting than the brightness / benefit of the front fiber sight as viewed head-on with my left eye.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ways around it?

It seems fiber sights are far and away the most popular for these two games (USPSA and 3gun), but I'm just wondering if they'd be my best bet, or what else you might recommend. Thanks.

I have fiber a fiber front, but it is so coated with sight black the it doesn't glow at all, it is pretty much functionally equivalent to a plain front.

I think Ben Stoeger has mentioned that he shoots a fiber optic front, but he blacks out a portion of the fiber so he gets a much less intense, but still distinct glow from the fiber.

You can make sure to go with a thin fiber. There are several common widths and a thinner one would help ensure you don't pick up any fiber from the side.

All I'm getting at is that you could go with a fiber and tone it down as necessary if you find it distracting. If you absolutely hate it solid fronts are fairly cheap and easy to change.

I have the same eye dominance problem and my eyes will shift dominance at any time so I have to close one eye or in the middle of a stage my eyes will be focused on the side of the gun instead of the sights. I shot with my right eye for years but my vision worsened as I got older and my near vision is much better in my left eye so I switched and now shoot right handed and aim with my left eye. Took a lot of work to make it happen but doesn't bother my now.

For sights on my Glocks I have been using the Warren/Sevigny fiber optics but just tried a pair of the TTI sights and like them better. Less light on the sides works better for me.

I am right handed left eye dominant. I use Dawson Precision and Warren Sevigny FO sights on my Glocks. I prefer the .04 diameter fibers. Using a darker fiber may help your problem, say red or blue. I like a d use green but I also occlude part of my left eye so I have only peripheral vision.

I have the larger .06 dimer rods on a couple of revos and an XDm because that's what the .125 wide sights come with. As budget allows I am replacing those sights with narrower .100 wide front sights.

When I was competing with a gen 3 Glock 34 I used night sights (drift adjustable for windage only). Most my fellow Glock 34 friends used fiber optic fronts (mostly opting for the green fiber) and a sparce few went with Sevigny comp sights. Either the Sevigny comp or the fiber optics will give you the visual room throught the rear sight to better "center" your shots. If I were going to change I'd probably lean hard to the green fiber optic.

i gave a try to a fiber optic front sight (HiViz) but found better to stick to the factory three dot because I can see the front sigth better with bad light. Funny because I was fully expecting the fiber optic to cath more ligth... I should try a thinner front sigth, however.
