Akkid17
I've been trying to devise a method to be able to mount twins and qualoads in such a manner that would allow me to be able to move them from a cumberbun/vest to the belt and back as needed. The purpose being that I will want a lot of shells in some stages and a few on others and having that vest on is kind of a hassle if I only want a spare 4-6 shells and using a different load method leads to mental trip ups during a course. What I'm thinking is to get a vest/cumberbun that has the brackets to attach stuff to but no shell holders and attach ELS mounts to it and have ELS mounts on tek loks (which I will be using for mag pouches as well) then get twins and/or quaload holders and put ELS forks on them so I can move them to either one. Therefore: Long shotgun stage with a lot of rounds needed = vest Short shotgun stage just some oops shells 4-6 max = belt spares This is purely in the idea phase now but I'd like some feedback on what people think. I'm not dead set on the ELS though, I just haven't seen the bladetech TMMS set up enough to know if its better for my purpose. CJW
I have exactly that built on Blade-Tech TMMS pieces. I have two sets of TMMS female backers; one set of four is attached to Tek-Loks and goes on the belt, while the other set of four is attached to MOLLE-Loks and is threaded through a Condor tactical chest panel. The caddies go on the TMMS male plates. I can then configure my collection of dual-loads, Qualoads, and APC 4x4s across either. My standard set up is 22 on the belt (4 Qualoads, two per backer, and a 2x3 Duaload). For a shotgun only stage today I fit another paired Quaload in there to push it to 30. If I start mounting on the Condor panel I could fit another 20, easily. Minimal load is usually one paired Quaload and the 2x3 Duaload for 10--14 depending on whether I fill them. Akkid17
Yes, pics. I'm probably going to steal the crap out of your design. On another note, what made you go with the tmms as opposed to the ELS system? And how secure are they with the molle as far as wiggle factor and running with them loaded up? CJW
Yes, pics. I'm probably going to steal the crap out of your design. On another note, what made you go with the tmms as opposed to the ELS system? And how secure are they with the molle as far as wiggle factor and running with them loaded up? I started with Blade-Tech stuff before ELS came out, which is why I stuck with TMMS. I do see one advantage, though---some of the caddies need different lateral clearance, so the wiggle room to slide the Tek-Loks this way and that lets me adjust mount position as I like for specific stages. Okay, picture below. In the background you see my belt. Between the holster and the pistol pouches I have four Tek-Loks with female TMMS. From left to right, a pair of Qualoads, two empty spots, and a 2x3 Duaload. In the foreground is the Condor panel with three sets of female TMMS on the new style MOLLE-Lok strips. (The new ones, with a fold-over clip like a Tek-Lok, are much more secure than the pinch-and-hope older style MOLLE-Loks.) You can see there is room for a fourth. Something like a VTAC Battle Belt would give you even more room. I have my extra APC 4x4s on here right now, but the few times I've needed a lot of shells, I put the APCs on the belt and put the Duals and Quads on the Condor. On the right you can see a paired Quaload sitting upside down to show the male TMMS connected to the backer.
CJW
Here's a top view of the whole belt, my front at the top---so like looking down at your own belt while you are wearing it.
Jesse Tischauser
Nice! Are those the mini TMMS clips?
CJW
Thanks, Jesse! Yes, they are the minis. And the new Blade-Tech website (finally!) makes it much easier to find these mounting accessories.
