Recommended Posts

I posted this in the 9mm forum with nor response so I thought I would try here.

Well, I was able to get WST powder and now need to start working up loads for my 9 and 40.

So what are your loads using WST and the following MG bullets:

9mm 124 gr FMJ

9mm 147 gr CMJ

.40 180 gr CMJ

.40 200 gr CMJ

The 9mm is for Production and so a minor PF for use in a 5 in Tactical XD, while the .40 would be for major out of a 6 in barrel Cheely.

Thanks for your participation and understanding.

9 mm 124gr FMJ - 4.6gr WST @ 1.145

180gr CMJ 40 5.0gr of WST @ 1.180

200gr 40 I suggest 4.3gr of titegroup at an oal of 1.200 and in no case shorter than 1.185 an use good brass. (and I don't like titegroup) but it works with 200gr. Any shorter and you run into "split" and "topless" cases. Short is like 1.140 and and you will split some cases. You can probably use Wst but I don't have tried and true tested load for that weight. Start Low and work up.

OK. Got to try some loads.

the 5.0gr of wst with the 180 gr CMJ in 40 came up with a PF of 161. so next I will try 5.2 gr.

Got a final load for the 200gr CMJ at 4.6 gr with a PF of 170.1

Also have some N350, trying to get loads here too.

How is the recoil to you?

PKT, The recoil from the WST and the 200gr MG CMJ as compared to my N320 load with the same bullet was in my opinion, slightly less.

Still working on a 180 gr FMJ MG load for the 40.

Also am close to a load for the N350 I have as well with the 200 gr CMJ. 5.2 gr yielded a 153 pf and 5.5 gr yielded a 192 pf. So 5.3 to 5.4 will get me there, but was not impressed with the accuracy.

Please remember if I did not mention it before, the 40 is a 6 in barrel, while the 9mm is a 5 in barrel.
