Chills1994
I just called the place, and their demo guy just took the pork butts off and is putting the chickens on. Something came up today where I can't make it... Arrghh...

Sarge
Rumor has it the tops crack easy on the eggs?
Chills1994
Boy! For such a steep price tag, that would definitely be in a "what I hate thread!". Ouch! I'll probably just scrounge a 55 gallon steel barrel and make an Ugly Drum Smoker first, plenty of YouTube videos on how to make one. I'm a glutton for punishment, so I asked the demo cook to email me pics. I'll post them later.

Everybody I talked to said it is great but a bunch of those same folks were on their second lid. I guess they probably drop them closed too hard or something. I actually exchanged a few for customers that had cracked tops. Probably used to using the old weber that could be dropped, kicked, etc.. lol
EEH
Yes I don't think I would let it slam closed--I cooked chicken wings on it last night..wings 225 deg.apple wood chips little over 2 hours homemade sauce and EAT.

Hatchet
Rumor has it the tops crack easy on the eggs? That is a definitely a rumor. If you drop the top enough I'm sure something would break, since it is ceramic after all, but if you take care of your stuff, you will never have a problem. 8 years and counting. ktm300
My 15 year old BGE is heating up now. I have had to replace two bottom cast iron grates. Something about 750 degree fire just wears them out after a while. 750 does a hell of a job on a steak though. 2 min, flip 2 min done. Less if it's not thick. benos
I'm going to be lazy and not search... I remember seeing a thread on a BGE knock off that actually got good reviews that was available at either Home Depot or Loews. Anyone?
