Youngun450
Wondering if some of you guys had any experience running or reliability of the Winchester AA xtra-lite target 1 oz 7.5 shot 1180 velocity 12 gauge loads. I ran a box of 25 today with no issues through a dirty gun, but would like any opinions before I order some cases. They shoot extremely soft and I am much faster with them then the Wally World federals. Knocked down poppers and steel just fine at 15yrds too. Im shooting a Benelli m1 that already has a couple thousand rounds through her. Do you guys think this is a good load for three gun? I did a search but everyone just says Winchester AA not what type of load they are. Any help would be appreciated.
JPorter
I shoot the AA127 light target load. 1-1/8 of 7.5's at 1145fps. Never any issues with this load through my M1. I have not tried the 1oz load as the AA127 is readily available and soft shooting. Edited June 3, 2013 by JPorter
CJW
Ditto on the AA Light Target loads (usually #8 for me). Haven't tried the Xtra-Lites in my M2. I played with distances and chokes and was able to knock down small (4") heavy steel plates at 20 yards with Light Full using that load.

DocHolliday1
Try it on some steel a little farther, and if it works for you, great. I have had trouble with 1 oz loads knocking down some bigger poppers at farther distances. Of course I like to choke a little wide as well. pjb45
What is the dram weight? Some skeet shooters feel there is pattern deformation with 1 1/8+ oz loads. Something about the forcing cones. If i have a choice I usually am satisfied with 1 oz load for fliers. I suspect pattern deformation probably does not matter much when it come to knocking down steel. Blaise1
It ALL depends on the targets!! Every match and MD has their own style targets and stage design. The only way to know what will work is by getting some experience. A stage with 10 static clays just begs for 2 3/4 dram 1oz and a Difussion choke but put a popper or two in there at any distance and everything changes. Doug H.
At Ironman this year I ran Win AA Supersports, 1oz of 7.5s, listed as 1350 on the box, out of my 18" Saiga 12 with a Mod choke. Didn't have any trouble with steel falling. If you are going to run light loads make sure you have some tigher chokes in your bag. Doug Edited June 11, 2013 by Doug H. ClutchUSMC
I have been shooting Game Bore XLR (extra low recoil) 7.5 1oz loads out of my pump guns and my M2. They will do everything you need them to for 3gun. It's not usually about having the biggest pattern in 3gun. Pattern density is where it's at for the 4in steel that we shoot.
