Crooked AR Sight

Recommended Posts

I just recently purchased a Bushmaster AR with a removable carry handle. I have noticed that the rear sight housing sits crooked. It is held to the left under tension. I can very easily push it into alignment and it will pop right back. If I crank the elevation knob up, it will straighten up. From a internet search this appears to be normal. Does anyone have any thoughts as to whether it is normal and if so why the rear sights are made this way? What could I or should I even do anything about it. Thanks.

Normal. It is made this way so it stays in place. If there were two springs the sight would bounce back and forth from the recoil. The one spring holds tension, simple but effective design.
