Hammer follow

We have trouble with the hammer follow in 2011 open gun. We changed sear, disconnector and sear spring, but the hammer still follows. I think that the problem is with the hammer, because it seems that slide doesn't pushing the hammer down enough to cock. When the hammer is in cocked position and if I rack the slide it doesn't touch the hammer. Any solutions or we just need to buy a new hammer?

I've made sure of that. It always cocks manually but if I rack the slide never cocks, even if I rack very slow or hold the slide in last position.

Update: I've put some tape on top of the hammer where should have contact with slide and now it cocks when I rack the slide. I guess my friend needs a new hammer.

That is a not real common occurance. The slide should "over-cock" the hammer by a small amount, about .040" measured at the hammer to beavertail pocket on most of my guns. There can be lots of possible problems, but if this is occuring in a gun that was running right in the past, then I'd vote for a worn hammer... improperly heat treated and wearing down at an un-naturally rapid rate perhaps. I assmume the slide and firing pin stop all look good.

Sounds like Hammer bounce. About the only thing left if you changed the sear and disconnector. I had this happen I just changed everything.(hammer, sear, disconnector and sear spring) problem solved

Are you sure everything is assembled correctly? If the hammer isn't coming back to a set position after you rack the slide then it most likely has something to do with parts fitment or assembly. If the hammer does come back but falls to half-cock, then it's probably a hammer/sear issue. Could be hammer hooks are cut too short or the angles on one or both of the parts aren't right. Lack of spring tension could also be a problem. The correct way to get a light trigger is NOT to use super light springs.

i had a similar problem when I put a new hammer in.

the smith had to move the hammer hooks because the slide would not depress the hammer far enough.

One other thing to check is for cracks under the leaf spring I had one crack and I changed everything twice couldn't figure it out then a DQ for a AD during a mag change I striped it down and found a crack put a new grip on problem solved hammer hasn't followed in the last 2 years.
