a matt
If the eye picks up green faster than any other color (including red) then why do most of us run a red fiber optic in our pistols?
bigdawgbeav
Depends on the shooter. Some people do pick up red faster. But you raise an interesting question. Might have to try a green in the front and see if there is a difference Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Carmine
I've stated running a green front fibre optic.....I've found its not as "bright" as my red..... I see more of the front sight and that helps with precise shot placement.
9X23Guy
I have found green is brighter and contrasts well in an indoor range. Red, however, contrasts better when outside and there is plenty of sunlight to make it bright. I always use green while diving as a backup, the eye picks it up well in less than ideal conditions. jcarpenter82
Ive run with both and prefer green. Ever have the fiber optic fall out and still shoot without it. Kinda fun.

a matt
Try shooting with the tip blacked out. That's kinda odd. It takes a couple stages to trust what you are seeing.
sandrooney
I went back to a stock STI non FO and like it . I seem to track it better and more accurate.
RePete
foilage on the berm I've never seen foliage glow like the F/O. The green is easier to see at the begining and end of day. I do have red on my Dawson's but I will change to green when the F/O breaks.
chirpy
I don't run green because it is brighter but because for my 66+ year old eyes it presents a green dot. The red fo is fuzzy for me and not as distinct. YMMV Richard
MrVvrroomm
I just swapped my limited gun to red last night. I can pick it up faster.
gearguywb
I need to try a FO sight...still stuck in the "old world" of plain 'ol black sights
thegunnerd
I've done the green or red dance many times, and i seem to just keep going back to a standard serrated black front sight. As nice and bright as FO are i can't seem to find one that doesn't occlude the front sight with the ole fiber optic halo. I lose accuracy and tend to shoot high because im aiming with my dot instead of my sight posts . The brazos that is set back isn't bad but still , i'm far more accurate with black sights . honda01
I've had to go to an .80 size on my Novak's. A bigger green was needed, but still was easier to pick up than the red.
ttownracer
Try shooting with the tip blacked out. That's kinda odd. It takes a couple stages to trust what you are seeing. Say what? Would like to hear more about this.
a matt
I got black touch up paint put a dot on the FO, black front sight. Hits were much better. I had to see the sights lined up correctly, that made for better hits. Im playing with black, green and red to see what I like best. Kinda like finding the right spring setup.. oak hill
Red is my preference, more contrast. In full sun light, I do run a black marker over the top of the fo rod to "dim" it down and prevent the starburst effect
rishii
I use green because I'm a hard wired open shooter Brain say see red dot squeeze trigger, Kinda forget there's a rear sight
40S&W
I use green, easier for the old eyes to see. Use a .100 front sight with FO at .090.
56hawk
I originally went with green on my limited gun since it was noticeably brighter. I'm now using red on my limited gun and revolver mainly because it's the same color as the dot on my open gun. Just seem to register it better.
