Problems with Montana Gold 223 Bullets?

Quick question on the bulk Hornady I believe they are offered in SP or BT if my memory is correct. With the market the way it Is there any real advantage or disadvantage, one over the other?

SPs are supposed to be really nice for varmint hunting. I buy their FMJs in bulk and easily take them to 300 yards.

Also, I've bought 3 x 6000 rd cases in the last 4 months. So they are definitely available. I've been finding them for around $.09/rd shipped.

Guys, just noticed this:

http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=8444&dir=278|281|1081|1141

Not too long ago I bought 5K M193's for about $500 and thought it was a good deal. These are M193 style by Hornady and there 6K for $539.

They are cheaper from MidSouth.

Although out at the moment, they'll be back sure I'm soon.

If they are not in stock, the price can be as low as they want to publish. They have had that price for months

I just bought a case a week or two ago. I've bought 2 or 3 from them since probably July. So it's not just an advertised gimmick price.

Also, they're one of the few I've found that will let you backorder.

Thank you. Lately there have been a lot pricing that we've not seen.

Midsouth was my go-to source for everything reloading wise back in the late 70's. Actually had to call and have them ship COD. Don't miss that.

Wideners price includes shipping but Midsouth (if they had them) would probably still be cheaper.

I was reading about the problems you are with the montana gold .223 bullets the bullets are fine but operator error is probably to blame. as the rifle you are shooting is probably a 1in 7 twist AR style rifle not all bullets 55gr. can handle this fast twist rate. Speer tnt is also a bullet that will blow up at the muzzle if you push it past 2900fps or over twist the bullet. my suggestion is try them in a 1 in 10 or 1 in 9 twist rate barrel load them at or below 3000fps Hope this helps with your confusion doc

Yep that makes perfect since. Totally explains why the 10k 55gr bullets before and the 10k 55gr bullets after I got the bad batch that the factory admitting let get into the wild performed so awesome in my gun. 1st post is a necro from 4 months ago telling us all we don't know what we are going... way to make an introduction.

Err Wrong answer. 1/7 twist barrels can handle bullets as light as 50 grains and I know from experience. To get an issue with bullets coming apart in flight you need really thin jacketed varmint bullets designed for the 22 hornet such as 40 to 45 grainers.
