area51
Want to reload for my g30. My 1911 is on a steady diet on 200 swc from s&s casting or MB but I hear the g30s don"t like the swc. Is berry 230rn the only option ? Anyone has good experiences with Bayou for the G30s? Edited April 28, 2013 by area51
Matt in TN
I'm up to about 6,000 rds through my G30 now. I've used Rainer, Berrys and Zero all in the 230gr plated in my G30 with no problems. I've tried some FP and SWC plated and they usually work, but not 100%. It would be nice to have nice little round holes in the target, but the reliability of the 230gr RN plated is hard to argue with.
njl
Pretty much anything but SWC should work in the G30...whether you shoot FMJ/JHP/plated/coated comes down to personal preference and what you can find.
oldfrank
I agree. The Bayou SWC,and most other SWC bullets don't work well in the G30. I have used RN and RNFP from Berry's and Jacket HP from Roze and probably several different FMJ and they all work well. The JHP and the RNFP still make a decent hole in a cardboard target, not as big as a SWC but still pretty big.
FLSlim
Bayou LRN work fine in my G30. Seat them like you do SWC (just a bit of the shoulder above the rim). I also found that I had to load these at or above the midrange to get them to cycle reliably.
