Puma
I just picked up my Glock 23 G 4. I have heard so many bad things about the plastic guide rod with double springs that it brings that I am wondering if I should upgrade it and to what. An option would be to a similar set up in steel. Another option would be to a regular non-captured guide rod. The gun will be for carry and home defense. I would like your opinions, suggestions and recommendations. dzhitshard
For carry I'd leave it how it is. No one is making a direct drop in guide rod for the gen4 & you hav eto cobble too many variables together to make one of the available aftermarket parts work. Fitzghan
Run a bunch of ammo through it...test your carry load thoroughly and call it good. I like to run 1000 rds through a gun before I will carry it but maybe that is just me being overly cautious.

Atlgentlegiant
Factory ammo should give you no problems at all. The only issue would be using lower powered reloads and even then you should be OK. If it is a carry gun leave it as stock as possible, just in case.
sdrr72
I have 5 Gen4 Glocks, including a G23. With full power ammo, I have had no issues. As stated before, it would be best for you to run at least a couple hundred rounds through the gun to ensure proper function. However, I feel you will be pleased with the results.
