pjb45
Has anyone tried the Sub-sonic, 1000fps ammo from Gemtech in their TS uppers? A local guy is getting a boat load in, but I do not want to purchase any unless it will work in my TS uppers. thanks
D.Hayden
Has anyone tried the Sub-sonic, 1000fps ammo from Gemtech in their TS uppers? Isn't that too fast to be sub-sonic? My mini-mag stuff says 710fps? (haven't tried it yet) The Remington Thunderbolt Sub-Sonic runs well Edited April 4, 2013 by D.Hayden
wgj3
That is some slow mini-mag. It should be in the 1300-1400fps range. Generally, stuff in the neighborhood of and just under 1000fps is considered subsonic.
Jaxshooter
The Marvel conversions run without a problem with subsonic ammo. I have shot them in both Marvel conversions and my Model 41 S&W with excellent results.

Sorry.. it's CCI.. 29 grain.. 710fps - and just realized it's 22 Long, not 22 Long Rilfe None of the others stated on the box, I just 'assumed' they were all in that range On the CCI site.. the 22LR Quiet is the same speed

My mini-mag stuff says 710fps? (haven't tried it yet) The Remington Thunderbolt Sub-Sonic runs well The speed of sound is 1125 FPS this changes according to elevation and air density. Generally anything that is 1080 fps or less is subsonic just to give yourself a bit of wiggle room. Check velocity out of your gun because an inch of barrel once you are under about 15"s makes a huge difference
Bunsen
Never had any issues with Browning Buck Marks using the stuff.
