Jarhead1229
Hi guys recently the baffle out of my old single port compensator disappeared down range and after looking at the comp on my open sti I decided it doesn't look like there is much to building my own but thought I ought to get some opinions on the matter and also some suggestions on port configuration the gun has a 6" non ported barrel. Thank you for your input
bountyhunter
I thought designing compensators was pretty tricky. I read they use computer modeling to get it right.

Smoke and mirrors Go ahead and do one you will be surprised what you will learn, you my half to make 2 or 3 before you satisfied with it, but in the end you will accomplish alot, and have self gratitude . Good luck and show us some pictures
BrianH
Just don't bother with a 40 pitch tap. That was for back in the day when guys had to match the gap with a file and wanted to cut as little as possible. Since you have a lathe and can fit the gap with that just use 32 or something like that. They're cheaper, easier to find and last longer.
Powder Finger
I would ditch the tap technique all together just single point the treads
