Jim Norman
The Assocaition of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs Alert ---- · NJ ASSEMBLY DOUBLE-WHAMMY: 24 BILLS MOVING NEXT WEEK, FIRST IN COMMITTEE, THEN IN FULL ASSEMBLY VOTE Please immediately contact members of the Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee and your own two Assemblymen! Please plan on coming to Trenton Wednesday and Thursday of next week to attend hearings and voting sessions! This is the key moment we have been planning for. Now is the time for MASSIVE ACTION! In a legislative two-step reminiscent of what recently happened in New York, the New Jersey Assembly Democratic leadership is planning to ram through 24 pieces of horrific anti-gun legislation in committee hearings on Wednesday February 13, followed by a full Assembly voting session on Thursday, February 14. A list of the bills being heard was just released and is posted on the ANJRPC website here: http://c.ymcdn.com/sites/anjrpc.site-ym.com/resource/resmgr/DS-Email/MEMORANDUM_Feb_8.pdf Please immediately call, fax, and email every member of the Assembly Law & Public Safety Committee (listed below), as well as your own two Assembly Members. (http://www.anjrpc.org/?Contact_legislators) Tell them to vote no on any new anti-gun measures, and urge them to instead support meaningful measures to address school safety and keeping firearms from the mentally ill. Tell them that their proposals will not prevent another tragedy, because criminals and madmen who already ignore New Jersey's thousands of gun laws will not follow another new law. ANJRPC will be issuing a follow up alert over the weekend with in-depth analysis and talking points on many of the 24 bills. Additionally, we are asking you to plan on physically attending the hearing on Wednesday and the full voting session on Thursday in person, to pack the State House with gun owners and keep maximum pressure on lawmakers. ANJRPC may coordinate bus transportation if there is sufficient demand (please reply to this email if interested). Additional details (including locations and times) will be forthcoming in our next alert over the weekend. For the last month, ANJRPC has been warning that key moments in the legislative process were coming that will require extraordinary effort on the part of gun owners. Next week's events are two of those moments, and now is the time for us to pour it on like never before. The largest mobilization of gun owners and sportsmen in NJ history will be required if we are to defeat this legislation. It's time to give it everything we've got between now and the legislative events next Wednesday and Thursday. We know we have asked you to do a lot over the last month, but now is the moment that counts the most. Please watch ANJRPC's Stand and Fight video again – it'll get you ready for action.
