Smitty4313
Hey gang! I'm planning on shooting IDPA this year with my Colt Commander in .38 Super, and I was wondering what spring rates might be reccommended for it. I have no idea what's in it now, as far as spring rates go. It's brand new, I've only shot it one time, and it seems awful jumpy to me. I was using factory 130 gr fmj's. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Smitty
Jim Watson
Wolf says the stock recoil spring for a .38 Commander is 16 lbs. You could get one of their reduced power* "calibration packs" with springs from 12-16 lb conventional or 10-17 "variable" and swap them around until the gun shot more smoothly. *Most competitive shooters use recoil springs lighter than stock. A "heavy duty" spring seldom lets you go as fast. http://www.gunsprings.com/Semi-Auto%20Pistols/COLT/COMMANDER%20SERIES%20PISTOL/cID1/mID1/dID2#
dvc4you
I use a 9lbs spring on a Government 38 super, with reloads 125gr Precision Delta at a 126PF....very soft shooting.
