EricW
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, but somehow I'm finding it difficult to put on a smile. Maybe a sweater will warm me up. I remember first hearing your calm, soothing voice as a small child while watching you from my living room on our fuzzy black and white television. In the midst of a hateful, angry, confusing world you extolled love, decency, and virtue. You could not have come at a better time. I am sad that you were called away from us so soon. Goodbye Mr. Rogers. There was only one person in the whole world like you.
ErikW
The first line of an e-mail from my mother this morning: It's a sad day in the neighborhood. The person who made you the man you are today died.

SiG Lady
No matter the ribbing and teasing about him done in the background (and in broadcast booths here and there) the guy was a rock-solid institution... kind of like Sesame Street--which was also a "neighborhood." 3quartertime
The fact that we can so grieve the loss of a man that dedicated his life to 'kiddie' shows proves that the heart of this nation is not lost.
