stevenorlando
Hello All! I have a box of Federal Gold Match LRP for Mag. I am wondering if you can use those instead of LRP for std. loads in .308. Steve
wgj3
Wont make much difference unless you are at the very top of the max loads which is tough to reach with standard .308 powders. Might add a couple fps, but prob wont be very noticable
Boxer1
It will have a thicker cup that could cause failure if you have light primer strikes but that is not likely if it is a factory springs
RiggerJJ
I use large rifle mag and regular primers interchangeably for 3gun. Haven't noticed any ballistic differences using Varget or 4895. Doesn't mean there isn't, I just haven't noticed any... jj
gerritm
What about small magnum rifle primers to substitute for regular ones in .223 loads? Thanks, gerritm
392heminut
The cup thickness is no different between magnum and standard primers, the magnum primers just have a little hotter compound and could have a slight effect on chamber pressure. The cups ARE thicker on rifle primers than they are on pistol primers.
