lppd4
Does anyone know the maximum oal that a cartridge can be loaded too and still work in a Remington 700 BDL short action rifle?
Dirty Rod
Every chamber is different but most likely the magazine is shorter than the chamber. If you load longer than that you will have to singe feed your rounds. If you have a set of calipers you can measure the internal mag length otherwise you would need a headspace gauge and measure your specific rifle. ELNinO619
Remington has extremely long throats, you can literally have the bullet out of the case before it hits the lands. Suspecting your loading for .308, I would load to max OAL 2.8. You will NEVER get to .04 etc of the lands.
ShooterSteve
Pick up a chamber measuring guage from Sinclair. It is very easy to use. I agree with most posts above, it seems factories run the throat out pretty far. On my Ruger 308, a 169SMK will fall out the end of the case before it hits the lands. With the 175's I can load them to the lands. With 44gr Varget and good brass prep, this rifle will shoot in the .4s, I guess I'll have to keep it.
