ProGunGuy
I was given a Glock .105 Dawson FO thick site. I want to match it up with a rear site. all my rear sites are .140. Would a .125 or thinner rear notch work better with this front site??
Steve RA
Depends on how much "light" you want on each side of the front sight. Varies between most individuals.
JBP55
The .140 rear should work fine with a .105 front but as stated above it depends on how much light you want.
ltdmstr
What Steve said. I like a wider rear notch b/c it's faster to pick up. In fact, the Heinie Qwik Ledge sights on my 1911s and M&Ps are .156" (I think).
Rob01
I have a Dawson .105" fiber optic front sight and I use a .125" rear site with it. I like the way it looks on target. I use it for IDPA and steel matches. Can pick up the front site fast. Here's a kind of crappy pic of it.
ProGunGuy
i took off my .125 and put on the .105. my 34 has always been pretty accurate with the .125 . shot it last night and my long range, 15-25 yards dissapeared. I think a 125 will be better . thanks
JaeOne3345
This is a subjective topic. I personally hated my sevigny hot dog in a hallway .115/.150 set up. I fell in love with a Dawson .125/.125 set up. Yup, .125 front and rear! No fiber. I can tell when it is centered MUCH faster.
66L
I have really grown to like a "tighter" sight picture, as in .115 front/.125 rear. It forces me to get the sight picture right, rather than "close enough" with a wider rear like the Sevigney at .150.
dmedley
Wow thought it was just me. I recently went to the wider is better rear notch and my ability to shoot groups disappeared. For a while I thought I had just lost any skill I had ever had with pistol. Then I shot new issued duty weapon before changing sights and even with crappy factory sights I could shoot groups again. I was relieved and now have heinies original sights on pistol and don't completely suck anymore.

I use a .105 front and .145 rear setup and feel that I can shoot groups better with it verses tighter sights (smaller light bars).
Rob01
I think it depends on what you are doing with the pistol as well. I find my .105" front and .125" rear are fast to get on target for action shooting like IDPA, 3 Gun and steel. I haven't had a real problem shooting groups when I was testing some ammo but shooting groups isn't the intended use of the pistol.
dmedley
I think that this is really one of those personal preference things and the only way you know what works best for you is to try different combinations. I have found that I like the notch and front sight to be the same size with the front looking somewhat thinner due to sight radius.
Ultimo-Hombre
It is all trade offs. More space on either side of FS=faster acquisition, think smoke and hope. Less space= better grouping, think 25 yard head alphas. All depends on what matters to you.
