jamesb74
Hey guys, I got out of .45 and have several pounds of Bullseye left. would like to see what some of you guys have found with Bullseye and 180 plated (MG) and 180 lead ( Extreme) would rather use it for 3 gun load if it can get soft enough. thanks!! ltdmstr
Bullseye is good stuff. Works fine for .40. I switched to N320 about 15 years ago, so I don't recall the load data. Alliant web site shows 5.5g max w/Speer 180g JHP at 1.12.
Dave Shooter
Should work fine for Minor loads for 3gun. Like other powders at the fastest end you can get into trouble at Major loads. I've got a 40 with pitted breachface from Bullseye loads blowing holes in primers. Really the problem was too soft, old primers, but you get the idea. You can go as soft as your gun will cycle, Bullseye works just fine at low pressures so long as you don't stick a bullet in the bore.
jamesb74
So maybe 5grains at 1.135? maybe? I have N320 for major USPSA. I am trying to find a use for the remaining powder. Since I shoot 3 gun mostly I would like to use it for that.
garyg22
4.2 gr is decent for 40 minor. Easy to shoot and works in the Glock 22 with 175 gr lead.
jamesb74
Ok so 4.2 for plated. that would mean 4.0 for lead as well right? Also 1.135? this would be in a STI 2011.
garyg22
My 4.2gr of BE is with lead 175 GR TC boolit. Its OAL is for my Glock only. For another gun you best OAL is determined by how far out till the bullet hits the rifling.

jsharum
I;m shooting 180 Bayous from a M&P w 4.0 Bullseye. I'm going to try both 3.8 and 3.5 to see how the velocity is. I'm running a 2lb lighter recoil spring too.
dtuns
I use plated 180 gr bullet and 4.0 GR of BE 1.135 OAL shoots great in my 23 and 35 I shoot this load very mellow and cycles my 23 and
kamikaze1a
4.6 should get you pretty close to Major...may be better to start under that and work your way up. Kind of smokey with lead but not much worst than N320.
Rockets
I use plated 180 gr bullet and 4.0 GR of BE 1.135 OAL shoots great in my 23 and 35 Have to give that a spin in my g23. Edited July 21, 2013 by Rockets
USCSBarney
4.6 gets me just over major out of a 5" STI. I would say put in a 10# or so recoil spring and work down from say 4.0 or 4.2 depending on the barrel length. Garyg22 had About the same starring point I believe. I use delta precision fmj so if you use lead you will have to adjust accordingly. Molly will be a tad smoky but little difference between them and fmj from my experience when using Bullseye.
