Dan H.
I want a new scope for tactical. Leaning towards the 1-4x20mm but woried about the smaller 20mm obj. compared to the 2-7x 33. Is there a big difference in field of view. which one would be better for up close hoser targets. Thanks Dan H.
EricW
Benny Hill has recommended the Simmons 1-5 shotgun scope in the past. Under $100 from SWFA.com. You could buy two scopes and mounts for the price of one Leupold and have a larger field of view and have a backup scope to boot.
Larry White
Dan, obj. dia has nothing to do with fov. The 1x4x20 has a lot more fov than the 2x7x33 and will focus a lot closer. I think the leopold has about 50 ft at 100 yds. The simmons has 77. Larry
JD45
Here are the specs. if you need them. http://www.leupold.com/products/products_specs.asp Sorry, that didn't work as intended. You'll be on their website, but you will have to select each scope and specs. .
kimel
I have the Sightron 1.5 - 6 and it works great. About 1/2 the price of the Leupold too. I just can't see putting major high dollar glass on a 3-gun rifle that is likely to take some abuse...unless you can afford to have two of them. My plan is to duplicate my optic setup with another monolithic mount. Zero them both in and if one craps out during a match I can swap in the other one. I have owned and used a lot of Leupold scopes over the years and I really like them...just don't like the prices. I know they have a super warranty and they will repair them after you thrash them but doubt they can turn it around before the next match let alone the next stage. My 3 cents (inflation you know)
benny hill
Cost does'nt matter, only the field of view & close focus. It just happen's the simmon's has both over the other ones.
steven t
Benny I looked at SWFA for the Simmons scope but didnt see it. I also looked at Natchez Shooters Supply and found a Simmons 1.5-5x32 8pt shotgun scope, is this the one your recomending ?
benny hill
Not the 32mm one, the 20mm one is the one you want.
statichead2k
mdiway has the simmons 1.5-5X20 shotgun scope for about 79 bucks. There are just a few left. One less than there was 20 minutes ago in fact. Simmons on Midway.

statichead2k
I dunno, I looked back at my invoice and the price was 78 + shipping, came to about 86 bucks. It was 88 on the site, then it was 78 at checkout. I do have an account with them, but I dont know if that makes a difference.
