What am I doing wrong with my Redding GR-X?

So this happened when I was trying to set up my Redding GR-X. I'm guessing I don't have the die in far enough to where it pushes enough of the case through to avoid this? I'd give it another try but I did something even more stupid by putting a case in up-size down in the push rod to try to get these out, and now I have a case firmly stuck in the push rod that isn't coming out. Wonder if I can just find that part somewhere. Thanks!

I think you will be able to find a way of getting that soft brass case off of the plunger.

You obviously did not have the die low enough since the case should pull out with fingers once sized.

Also make sure to lube the cases.

Sarge,

You got me to thinking and I was able to cut the case off very carefully with a dremel without damaging the pushrod. Got things set up correctly and things are going smoothly. My reloads without going through the GRX all ran fine, but this allows me to give each piece and inspection which I do like. Thanks

Adjust the die down to where it contacts the base of the plunger when raised all the way. It should push the case completely thru. Use a quart pop bottle (empty !) with the bottom cut off and it will push all the cases up into it. You have to find one that will fit the top of the die tightly.

Thats what I did originally, per Redding's instructions, and that's how I got the cases jammed together. Working great now though.

Edit: It wasnt contacting the base, but the top of the plunger. Now I see the error of my ways! Thanks Steve

Me too! I ordered another 1000 once fired brass... The first 700ish went surprisingly fast, maybe a couple hours if that. I don't have the funds for a stainless media set-up, but I ran a couple handfuls of brass in a 1lb powder bottle for 20 minutes in my vibratory tumbler and it did a very good job of cleaning them up. A drop of Dawn and lemon dishwasher soap. Still some grunge in the bottom of the case, but much cleaner and no grease on the cases.

Don't mean to thread steal but can any of the poster's on this thread explain their reasoning for going with the GRX versus the bulge buster which is more affordable? I have a thread about this that I posted but it turned into a "YOU SET UP YOUR U DIE WRONG" session and I really didn't get enough opinions on whether they worked out to be the same or if one was better over the other.
