Bullet Feeder and LnL Ap - Which PTX?

There are 3 options for a powder through expander (I think).

1. Powderfunnels.com

2. Hornady

3. The one from Mr. Bullet feeder.

Has anyone tried more than 1 of the above? Pro's vs Con's ? Which is the best?

It'll be a few months before I can set up my 1050 with bullet feeder, so I'm going to set it up on the LnL for my winter marathon loading sessions.

I've only used the Hornady bullet feeder with the Hornady PTX dies. An original die and the one they shipped with the second bullet feeder die. Well I also used it on my xl650 with the standard 9 mm powder funnel die.

They all worked well with the Montana gold bullets, when I switched to Zeros I had to crank it down more since those bullets are larger in diameter.

My friend with the Mr Bullet feeder loading 38S uses the standard Dillon die instead of the Mr Bullet feeder die and says it works fine. He said that the biggest issue is getting the shell plate tamed, so it doesn't throw the bullet out moving to the next station. I already tamed mine since I load 9 major.

I did discover one secret to keeping cases upright going into the LNL and that is adjusting the slider so the case does not touch the shell plate till its going in the groove if it touches too early the tipped case.

I too would like to know.

Btw I have the hornady & the Powderfunnel. I have no issues with the Hornady option which is what I normally use but you can save yourself money by getting the Powderfunnel since it works on most calibers.

Tame the Hornady shell plate? Howd you do that?

Tighten the shell plate till it has a slight amount of drag. I told this to a shooter I am mentoring, he said his would not do it, he finally sent it back to Hornady and they fixed it. The nut protiion down in the tube was set wrong so you could not tighten it up.

The xl650 is a lot harder, cutting coils off the detent spring, bearing kit, and ultimately tightenting the shell plate, but for that to happen I had to grind the advancing pawl down about .020.

I use the Powderfunnels.com and I also have the Hornady ones. I prefer the Powderfunnels.com as I can tune the expansion is a bit easier.

Please let me know how the Mr. Bulletfeeder works on the LNL. I was planning on purchasing one this winter. The downside is I will have to make some brackets to hang the bulletfeeder from some nearby cabinets since I don't have a casefeeder.

The Mr. Bulletfeeder expander included with the feeder will not work with a Hornady powder measure, it drops straight through without stopping. It only appears to be intended for use with the Dillon powder meaure.

Also, the Hornady measure is too large to clear the Mr. bullet feeder bullet dropper assembly / die when they're right next to one another.

You'll need to seat/crimp in station 5 and put the bullet feeder in station 4 to make it work with the LNL powder measure, at least on the 650 toolhead. I can't say I've tried it with the Hornady toolhead yet.

I used the powderfunnel.com expander and I didn't like the results as much as using the included expander with the Dillon powder measure. Unfortunately, I don't like the Dillon powder measure nearly as much as the Hornady.

The powder measure that ships with the DAA bullet feeder is for Dillon Powder Measures. I contacted Rick from Mr Bulletfeeder, and he does make a powder funnel for the Hornady measures. He said he would exchange for the dillon funnel, or sell for $15. I haven't ordered yet, but the Hornady PTX die does work well enough. I am still waiting on the powderfunnels.com funnel to show up.
