Lifeislarge
I just sold an SL900 with the case feeder (very similar to the 650) and I need to ship it. Of course I don't have the original boxes.... Just wondering if anyone has shipped one and had any tips on packaging so that it arrives safely. I realize that I'll have to disassemble and my concern is that during shipping the heavy bits will move around and destroy the other stuff. I also figure that I'll have to ship the case feeder bin in a different box separately. I'll be shipping from Florida to Texas, and if someone has experience with different carriers as far as cost and proper handling of goods goes I appreciate that input as well. I just want to ensure a good experience for a fellow forum member. Thanks.
Jonathan Taliani
I've shipped a few Dillon presses and all I can say is good luck. Without the factory packing materials, it is a bit of a crap shoot. I always go above and beyond with packing material but have still had some items get bent/dinged up during shipping. Thankfully they have always made it there relatively unscathed. I'd thoroughly wrap every part that you can and pack everything as tightly as possible. DWFAN
I received a 1050 packed in a 650 box. It was wrapped in and stuffed with bubble wrap. It made it safely. It came Fed-ex, but UPS would be another good choice. Use a bunch of good quality bubble wrap, bag and mark small parts separately. I think UPS store will package stuff if needed. They have that expanding foam stuff that may be worth using as well.
dillon
We suggest using small cardboard boxes and bubble wrap to pad and to prevent the machine from shifting around in your box. Also, put a plastic trash bag over the machine so if the box is left out in the rain the machine is not damaged. As far as carriers go, take it directly to either FedEx or UPS. Both are less expensive than USPS. If you take it to a secondary carrier, it will cost more than if you go directly to the carrier.

Franco79
I wonder if Dillon would ship you an empty box and foam for a small fee? Worth asking, and worth knowing your items will get there undamaged. Heck, a full order of a 650 shipped was $24.00 That was for a total of 3 boxes weighing 50+lbs. I know Dillon ate alot of that shipping cost. But give them a call and let us know what they said.
