Range time with my new Custom Shop Target SP01

Finally got some time to spend at the range. This is my 1st CZ and 1st metal framed pistol. I've owned mostly striker fired and ran an M&P Pro in IDPA and 3 Gun.

Un boxed and and removed the LIBERAL packing oil. Field striped, cleaned, and oiled. Dry fired some with snap caps.

Took it to the range and was VERY happy with the felt recoil, (lack there of). Found the point of aim/point of impact, (poa/poi), was "off". Not sure where the Custom Shop sights in. 2" poi low at 30ft, 1" poi low at 40ft, and .5" poi low at 50ft. Guessing it's sighted at 25yds?

I am not a strong pistol shooter, so my next range trip will employ a rest before I adjust the sight.

I was running ammo with Winchester primers and had 5 light primer hits through 200 rounds. Also had 1 fail to feed.

Will try some different ammo, but, can this extended pin help as well?

I'm not gonna worry about the FTF until I put a few more hundred rounds and different ammo through.

Overall I am very happy with my purchase. I wanted a "turn key" competition pistol and that's what I got. I've read that the Custom Shop's support is quite good should any issue arise. Also, when I call, someone who works on the firearms answers the phone. Those two facts alone are the reason I went with the CZ over a Tanfoglio Elite.

Regarding the light strikes, I have a Shadow and did not have light strikes when new. But I did get the extended firing pin when I dropped the mainspring to 13#. I've since changed mainspring to 11.5# and have not had any light strikes.

What grain bullets were you shooting? That makes a pretty big difference in POA/POI.

I'm a big proponent of the extended firing pin and lightened firing pin spring. IMO, it never hurts to have a bit of extra insurance.

As to the failure to feed, I'd mark your mags so you can keep track of them. If you notice a pattern of the having the issue with a specific mag, the spring is likely the culprit. CZ factory mags do not have the strongest springs.

Most importantly, Enjoy!!!

CZ's are very accurate pistols, dependng a lot the model and your ammo selection. For your first time out with the pistol, overall average was too bad.

My 2nd handgun purchase was the CZ P01, and soon after I followed up with a stainless 75b. You get a lot for your money with any CZ.

Give us a nice picture of the pistol ... ;)
