ErichF
I had to issue my first DQ as an RO to a friend of mine at the local match last weekend, which was also his first DQ. Broke the 180. Just barely, but broke it nonetheless. Learning experience for the both of us, but still sucked.
open17
It always will suck. Been a RO/CRO since 2005. The last one a couple of months ago wasn't any easier than the first one in 2005. Be safe, enforce the rules impartially, learn and move on. That last DQ? I DQ'd my wife. Tripped over a prop, swung the gun, broke the 180 a little past straight down. That was a L-O-N-G ride home. Sleepswithdogs
Dude, you did him a favor. He will be more careful in the future, and you two can always laugh about it 10 years down the road. Tar

Not as long or lonely as it could have been. I'm glad the only time I have DQ'd a good friend was when he fired a round during unload and show clear. There was no doubt or speculation or bickering. We looked at each other and basically said "WTF" then at the same time as I said, "you're done" he said, "I'm done." I'm glad it was not a subjective call situation. laz2011
I did not like giving my first DQ and any others after. But i think it is a strong learning experiance. That is the only way some people learn.

Wow, I don't think I could've done that. "No dear you never broke 180, but you were close"
Team Amish 1
I've had to DQ two guys/friends I shoot with all the time, one for a 180, then half a year later the other for AD while moving out of position. Even if you know you have to DQ them, it still feels crappy. To "redeem" myself, I had a revo do a "slippery hand somersault" into the dirt this summer when I dumped an empty moonclip on the last stage of a match. The RO looked at me and said, "what now?". I told him that I just DQ'd myself and could run the timer for the rest of the stage. Why has no one invented skateboard tape for X-frame grips, yet? HRider
I DQ'd my best friend a few years ago. We had some new shooters at a club match and went over the safety rules with them. We (my friend and I)specificly explained the 180 rule. My friend was the first shooter, and then he broke the 180!!! It wasn't really bad (there wasn't anyone in danger), but it was a safey infraction, so I told him "Stop, unload and show clear". He was a good sport about it, and we used it as a learning tool for the new guys. It still sucks, though. Hurley

Jaxshooter
It always sucks to DQ a shooter but you do them an injustice if you don't do it. It is a learning experience and most of the time the shooter agrees with the DQ. I DOed a couple of weeks ago on the 2nd stage of the day. It was the first time in many many years. I put up my gun and gear and ROed the squad for the rest of the match.
