dskinsler83
What is the best loading system starting fresh out in 3-Gun. NOOB here needing advice. 4 shell caddies w/ side saddles and arm band or the various other systems out there?
AlamoShooter
you need friends , If you were in this area plenty of us would let you try our gear. The absolute easiest thing to learn is the off a side saddle grab one and stick it in.= BUT ! that will hold you back. Do a search of the exsiting threads with video and see what one looks best for you. I very much like all things Carbon Arms = the stuff is adaptable to allmost any style of loading you want to learn. dskinsler83
I've seen the grab 2 method on the carbon arms website looks easy enough
poortrader
Shell caddies are cheap. I use 3x6 round carriers. I don't like the arm band. The carbon arms stuff is really nice but make sure you like the game first before you spend the money
michael1778
Carbon Arms has good products that are adaptable to various loading methods. I own two of their FSL 12 caddies. Mostly, I use Load Two, weak-hand. But I can do more traditional weak-hand loading when needed using the same system. I am considering going to strong-hand Load Two, or even Load Four (or Quad Load), since my XRAIL-enabled shotgun needs more work to stabilize than previously. Even though I shoot Open, I'm hesitant to do the speed loader sticks, just yet. Loading isn't holding me back at matches, general speed and accuracy are! As such, I don't want to add new skills to practice just yet. I need to get fundamentals down.....and refresh my pistol skills. MarkCO here on the boards is one of the business owners for Carbon Arms and is very generous with his time and expertise. Contact him. I enjoyed the customer service with the FSL 12 caddies that I went to him for my forged 16" competition upper.
HotLoad
+1 for carbon arms. 1st time using with less than 1 hr of practice and I was doing 7 sec, 8 round reloads. Super easy to use. Best to open the loading port on the shotgun.
trodrig
I gotta add my voice in support of Carbon Arms. I've only had their pinwheels and vest for a week and really like them! The support and service from MarkCO is stellar as well!! I'm still embarrassingly slow at loading but MUCH faster than with the traditional caddies and support hand loading. dskinsler83
I've been looking hard at the FSL 8s. Thinking 2 of those plus a couple of 4rd caddies and maybe a side saddle and Barney saddle???
dlouie87
I've been looking at AP customs and Carbon arms and it seems to me, more people prefer carbon. I haven't tried any of them yet since I dont know anyone that has these carriers around me but I'm going by opinions on forums.
Sgtsvi
I started out with Mark Otto's caddies but have changed to "dropping dueces" with the Carbon Arms pinwheels. There seems to be less fumble factor for me with these.
Matt Griffin
I say learn both weak hand and Load2, they can both be used at different times with greater effect.
StravIs09
I recently picked up an FSL8 and 2- 4 round pin wheels. i used the els system to get them onto my belt, they fit fairly snug. the FSL seems to be just a touch harder to get used to when loading 2 but for me only about .5 seconds slower than loading 8 from the pin wheels. right now- standing still, i am loading 8 in 5-6 seconds.. it takes a bit of practice to get under 6 seconds. and now it seems very easy and (for me a lot faster than loading from traditional 4 round caddies.) if you plan on going with the load 2 set up. be sure to the file the front of the load port so you dont have to push you thumb into the magazine. very happy with the carbon FSL and the pin wheels. + the pinwheels are nice because with els you can take then off and trade the position on your belt for a pistol or rifle mag to suit the coarse of fire.
