Rattling strikers

My 23 is stock except for a Wolff reduced power striker spring and 3.5# connector (which get switched out for the GSSF games). The slide rattles when the striker is in the fired (gun unracked) condition. It goes away when the gun is in ready to fire condition. The slide assembly rattles, unless I push in the FP plunger. I keep the gun dry, and the parts do not look worn or damaged (probably less than 2K rounds through the gun).

This is normal, right? (I searched here and didn't find an answer. I searched GT, found one thread, but I trust my buddies here on BE just a bit more ;) )

TIA

Kevin

Just a normal part of a striker fired weapon. What you hear is " the firing pin moving freely in the firing pin channel", but only when the trigger is released.

When the slide is down (even on an empty chamber) and the weapon is cocked and all safties engaged, you will not hear that sound.

If the striker ISN'T rattling you have problems. It generally means that your striker channel is full of crud and your gun needs a complete detail strip and cleaning. Depressing the firing pin safety plunger and shaking the slide is one of the checks you are taught in the Glock armorer's course, if it rattles all is well, if not, then strip and clean and/or repair.
