polizei1
I've had guns with both finishes. The Ionbond looked good and was almost scratch proof. The problem comes with rust. Even with the nice climate here in SoCal, the gun constantly had to be wiped down. I don't know if this was normal or not. The finish was applied by a well known gunsmith/shop. I never had any issues with hard chrome. I ordered a STI Tactical with a hard chrome finish as well. Should be here in November. That sounds fishy. The only people who apply Ionbond are Ionbond, Inc., the actual company. They have several facilities throughout the US. There are certain people like John Harrison and Springer Precision that is authorized to ship direct to the company. That said, I had Harrison do Ionbond on my EMP and it's a fantastic finish. I would say it's a toss-up, pick whether you want to go light or dark! I do agree with Metaloy though, they are the only place I'd send a gun to get HC'd.
