DdiscD
Ok just got my 550b all set up as instructed. Everything is working great started reloading 9mm. Using range brass and plated bullets. About 150 round so far. My question is...How much of a size difference from round to round should there be? I’m getting at the moment about +/- .006 Thanks
dab
By size, do you mean overall length? I think .006 variance is acceptable.
Red Ryder
There are a few things you can do to reduce to AOL variance. Purchase and install a tool head clamp kit for your 550 from unique tek. This will stop the movement of your tool head during the reloading process. Second, use all the same head stamp brass. Third, you could use a Competition Pro Seating Die from Redding to make fine adjustments. Fourth, a consistent stroke of the Dillon handle, I believe, makes the most difference. I suggest that you shoot the reloaded bullets and test for accuracy. If everything is ok, don't chase the AOL varience problem. It can be a pain in the @ss! I have reduced my variance to +/- 0.001, but I am not sure it was worth the hassle.
Youngeyes
Only a .006 variance? You're good to go. Shoot em up.
Merlin Orr
Once you have the toolhead full and start getting a rhythm your variances will be minimal. For a handgun, IMO, you are golden with .006....
g mac
.006 different shouldn't be a problem. I tried up to ..025 differences on my pistol without any problem (these are intentional c.o.l, not machine related). Depends on the gun, some are pickier than others.
