STI Mags with new style SVI

Do the current STI mags function properly with the new style SVI grip or is there modifications that need to be done to get them to work?

Just got the courage to get myself an SVI gun!!

I figure its going to be my last one.......so do it.

As for STI mags going into an SVI grip......its yes and no.

Here's the answer provided for me by Brandon at SVI.

"I have seen STI magazines used in our billet grip pistols.

The only issue I have seen is the diameter of the tube through the

magazine release window is bellow spec."

"Therefore I would check the measurement of the diameter of the magazine

tubes through the magazine release window.

A measurement using callipers just bellow the window will offer an accurate

enough measurement."

" They can be easily adjusted to an increesed diameter by a slight squeeze front to rear

to increese the the magazine release window.

The diameter of the magazines should be .925-.935 inches"

None of my STI mags work in my SV metal grip. I can insert them perhaps 3/5's of the way in before they stop. Not certain how much squeezing would be necessary to make 'em fit but I think it would be a lot! All my new - and old - SV mags work in my three other plastic gripped pistols.

My old STI tube fits my new SV stainless Signature grip without issue. Two of the new style SV mags I have fit just fine, one doesn't. The grip is bolted to a STI frame.

Well, once I get my new pistol, I'll go through my STI mag collection and see

how many (if any) work for me.

I'll get some SVI mags anyway.....just to be sure that I'm covered.

New gun should get her some time towards the end of 2013.

I have STI mags running without any problem in 5 different Signature grips.

It seems that the oldest mags were closer to the specs than the news.
