TannerB
Pulled it out of my new S&W e-series. It has a notch in it with a little bump/shelf. I can't tell if its on purpose or just a rough spot. I have an extra disconnector that is polished and much cleaner looking. Im thinking of replacing it with. I noticed a few minor differences between them but I would assume it would work. Any thoughts? Uploaded with ImageShack.us
eric nielsen
That looks a lot like a mold marking, if true would mean you have a MIM part and for sure i'd replace if it was mine.
TannerB
I think I read they come with MIM parts.
Suicycle
I remember seeing on one show where one of S&W's engineers redesigned the trigger system in their 1911s to fix something that wasn't broken in my opinion. That speed bump might be a design. I wouldn't be too worried about it. Stick a new one in, test all your safetys to see if things function correctly lather rinse repeate and raise hell. wes777
Melt it down so that you can do the world a favor and ensure it doesnt repopulate in another gun. Ever.
Dan Sierpina
Thats from the Metal Injection Molded process. Replace it or not, the process produces better parts than investment casting or sintering, both are used in gun parts. The sear in the picture is also a MIM part. Colt has been using MIM sears since the early 90's.
