Ultimo-Hombre
this is my first season shooting open but I have had good results, am pleased with my match performance and perhaps most important, am not broke 10,000 rounds into my open adventure. I shoot a coated bullet from Leatherhead bullets. 125 grain. Hi tek coated. Running about 172 PF. I get good accuracy, no bore leading, and smoke is ok as long as I keep the comp clean. I do get some leading of the comp but I see it as a minor inconvenience. Every 5 or 6 hundred rounds I run a sharpened screwdriver thru the comp an in 5 minutes I'm good. Given the profound cost savings over jacketed bullets I just get to shoot more.
Hi-Power Jack
I use MG 124 gr JHP's = if your bullet won't do the attached, at 50 yards, I'd suggest you switch to MG. I've never tried this with 121's or 115's - maybe one day.
Big Nick
I've been using Rainier 135gr Flat Nose bullets this season and can't be more pleased. The Rainier over Autocomp at 1250 fps is a very accurate load in my Gold Team. Gold Team functions reliably with this load. digi531
Since you chose a 40 cal you are restricted. I suggest the lightest bullet you can find in 40 which is a 135 grain if you can find them and preferably jacketed or at least plated
jnr88
Try SNS. You won't be disappointed. No leading in barrel or comp at 1375 ft/ sec.
idHawk
I just ordered a case of MG 121gr JFP based on more than a few recommendations. I have been running the 124gr MG JHP with ZERO issues.

accu9
I really like the price and accuracy of the precision delta 124gr JHP's.
Jasimon84
I shoot .40 open with the berrys 155fp over too much 3n38. Soft and flat but loud and fiery, get some unburnt powder but gun performs like I want it too. At a lighter charge I was getting a complete burn but too much rise
