Les Snyder
after a little R&D with a couple of carbine buffers... got perception of less scope movement with a buffer in the 4.2oz range (ST T2)... so took two of the weights out of a standard rifle buffer, turned a piece of aluminum as a spacer and reassembled... voila.. 4.2 oz... the steel weights are .6oz
mpeltier
Les, a few years ago I posted some research on buffer weights and recoil and came away with the exact thing you have just found out. My buffer weight of choice came out to be......4.2oz. I found with all my rifles they gave best performanve with something in the middle, as opposed to the absolute lightest or heaviest. This was always with rifle gas, adjustable gas block, light carrier and a compensator.
Les Snyder
Mark.. that's what I get for not shooting much at Hernando....sorry I missed your post... I was trying to get away from the Enidine that I was shooting (and never had a problem with ), cause I remembered you had a problem with another type of buffer at Ft Benning one year...I'm going to build a couple of them
