2013 Ohio State Match

Recommended Posts

OK here are a few updates.

The new pits are on hold. The contractor could not guarantee a mud free grounds by match time. They will be done next year some time so I can get them ready in time for future use.

We are going to go with old school registration and payment this one last time. We just can't get everything together fast enough to make all online click.

Look for a registration form soon. I'll post it here first. Forms and checks will be mailed/made out to me and my stats guy will get online squadding up and running when appropriate.

Carts will be a go but they will be used as shuttles. So there will be no rental. The drivers will be working for tips only.

Sponsorship is really coming along nicely. The shooting industry in general is very supportive and the companies involved more directly with USPSA are just awesome.

Off the top of my head as of today:

Techwear

Cheely Custom Gunworks

Shooter's Connection

Brian Enos

Bob Vogel

Steve Anderson

Stihl Power Equipment

CED

ZERO

NEVCO

Wilson Combat

LE Wilson

Brownells

Midway USA

Radians

Champion Shooters

Iosso

M-Pro 7

Comp-tac

Mannyusa

Redding

DC Ammo

Dawson Precision

And growing every day!

Talked with Matt Cheely. He will be building one gun this year to be given away in a random drawing. He is leaning towards building a 2013 legal Limited gun. Somebody is going to leave the match a very happy camper thanks to Cheely Custom gunworks!

Just as a reminder to everybody, all prizes will be by random draw. Winners will get plaques to showcase their accomplishments but the meat and potatoes of the sport, guys like you and me, will reap the rewards of sponsorship. And like I have said all along there will also be raffles for some items. We need to come together and support our troops by buying those raffle tickets!

For those of you who attended last year please let me know what the staff may have overlooked last year. I am learning something every day but I also want to know from you what we can do better this time around. You can't hurt my feeling because I was not the MD last year but please, if you think it is more appropriate please use PM to let me know what can be changed or improved over last year.

If you're going to setup a stage at the top of the rifle range again (the one with the scoring pit) don't have it be a 32rd long course with multiple activators. Took too long to reset, make it a medium course.

Hmmm... Hearing there was not enough water is news to me. I did hear from my wife actually that people were complaining about there not being enough cups for water. We had a whole tank of water on a trailer.

Did the jugs run dry or were there not enough jugs to begin with?

Definitely shade...this year was brutally hot and miserable, and almost offered no escape from the sun.

Kevin, I have two pop-up tents I can bring over and setup for the weekend. I know this is probably impossible, but is there anyway to even the number of stages with the squads? There seemed to be a lot of waiting around for other squads. I think it was roughly a 12 hour long day. Having 100+ shoots on each day is taxing I know, just wish there was a way to make it more efficient.

I would also be willing to help out and work a day if needed. Running water or the carts or whatever, just let me know.

We didnt see much problem with the squad size when we did it. We did wait some for squads to finish but that is typically usual for our squad as every one works on the squad. Well most everyone, we did have to bench a shooter from resetting due to injury lol

Last year had a few stages that caused a few backups. I'm pretty sure you won't see a repeat this year. The more challenging a stage can be, the more risk associated with the stage. You would be surprised how a couple of movers can screw up your day.
