Atlgentlegiant
I am working up several 40 loads to chrono and try for accuracy (I already tried some loads of a 180 MG CMJ, 4.4 up to 4.7 of N320, CCI 500 SPP and 1.13 OAL in a Glock 35 with a KKM barrel) the accuracy has been great and all the loads felt much softer than factory with no signs of pressure issues. The big thing I realized though is that setting up the press, getting charge weights set and then loading up some ammo was very relaxing. It has been years since I did any reloading and I had forgotten how nice it is to have that sort of task to do and put my mind in neutral. Something else for me to get hooked on doing, dang. Braxton1
Yep, it's relaxing (when you're working up a relatively "known" load and just tailoring it to your gun). Wait until you step outside the box and try to develop something different. Seeing Extreme Spreads in the 125fps range on a 900 fps 45ACP load will raise your blood pressure to something similar to a good hydraulic system.... kevin c
As in: Gee, those last few shots were pretty stout, and, by golly, those primers look mighty flat, and, the last time the brass bulged like that, I blew up a gun... BTDTHTTS... For me, it can be fun thinking up a load but a bit nerve wracking testing it (if it's on the edge of the envelope). What's good for me is the Zen of just reloading with a known recipe. Atlgentlegiant
Been there and done that with shotshell reloading, lol. Yes, I have blown the forearm off a shotgun before but I did not blow the barrel. And I figured out what happened and worked out the right loads back when component prices made good sense to reload for shotgun. I am sure I will face challenges with pistol and other reloading but for now it is nice to have a press up and running again. I plan to take my time and work things up carefully. This is why I bought a good scale, good calipers and have been searching out all the reloading data I can find, heck, I even use a spare barrel to check each round to make sure it fits the chamber before it goes into the box.
