dlouie87
I'm trying to get parts together slowly to build a upper. What I have in mind is going to be listed below. I was just wondering if you would change anything or will everything function together because I'm just worried about a couple things: 1) Barrel tapers down to .740 and I dont know if the specs of the benny hill comp, so will sit flush because I know most compensators are .750 2) Will the Jp adjustable block clear the 15'' Troy/vtac hand guard? I was originally going to do a build like this: (the ** will be the parts I already have) but feel free to critique it. Upper: nordic 18'' wylde SS barrel rifle length gas system with vltor gas block or Jp adjustable troy 15'' alpha rail** Benny hill's rolling thunder or SJC titan Fail zero NBc Bolt or JP LMOS or young's NM bolt Charging handle PRI or BCM Lower:** dpms lpk** Geiselle 3g trigger** magpul str stock** spikes ST-h2 tungsten buffer ** MIAD grip** Optic: Bushnell 1-6.5 or Meopta 1-4 Any feedback will be great. -Daniel Edited August 16, 2012 by dlouie87

Pat Good thing I asked on here. I guess I'll go with a non-adjustable low profile gas block. Unless there is something that'll fit.
latech15
Get the Syrac gas block. Unlike most out there, the syrac has detents in the gas adjustment screw. Makes it easier and more repeatable to adjust. I have that barrel. It is very accurate. If you are going this big, go ahead and get the JP silent captured buffer spring system. You will really like it. Ambi safeties?

You will really like it. Ambi safeties? +1 on the JP Silent Captured Spring. It will play well with the YM SLC or JP LMOS carrier. Also, it will replace the Spikes buffer which probably wouldn't. I was going to suggest a slightly heavier stock to help balance things out a little better but the JP Silent Captured Spring will take care of that as well. The only other thing is try one of the Geissele 3 Gun triggers first if you can. If you are used to a crisp breaking trigger for distance shots it will be a bit of a learning curve, one I decided I don't need to learn. I like my AR Gold and JP better. YMMV. If you are ordering one of the Nordic barrels from carbonarms.us you could always throw in one of their Feather handguards as it works with many gas blocks. ETA: after just looking at their site you may as well just have them build your upper. Edited August 16, 2012 by carbon9
zhunter
Mark at Carbon Arms is attaching my 18 Nordic barrel to the Nordic upper, the rest I am doing myself. Mark told me that Brownsells has his Carbon handguards for a great price, and his gas block is set up to work under his handguard and on that particular barrel.
