Hoffer
I have a new open gun in 38SC It seems to pressure bulge the brass at the ramp.....only on one side Never had a problem on my old gun. I know someone will say ask your gunsmith, but returning e-mails is non existent or very slow Pic of new brass fired once Powerfactor was 167 VV3n38 9.6 124mg 1.245ol Thanks in advance
Merlin Orr
What kind of gun is it...? Looks like a BIG chamber relief to me....
Pat Miles
Is it a new gun or a new to you gun? That looks like somebody tried to cure a feeding problem by grinding the feed ramp to a lesser angle and in doing so opened up the bottom of the chamber. If so... Danger Will Robinson! Looks like an unsupported chamber to me.

Sarge
S_I? This always cracks me up. Folks type S_I and make you guess what fills in the blank when it can really only be one of two letters. Since it all dates back to legal issues if you guess the wrong letter I suppose you get in trouble.

CocoBolo
That case can be reloaded you just need to run it thru a roll sizer first. I've picked up lots of brass like that at matches, I just run it thru my case pro and load it.
al503
I'd do a visual check of your bbl's chamber and see if you can find anything. If you can't, it looks like the bulge is high enough for a regular sizing die to take care of. I'd reload a handfull and chamber check them. If they fit in the bbl, run it. superdude
see what it looks like after you run it through your regular size die. if it has a lip, like the one shown in figure 4 at the link below, that is bad, and roll sizing might be the way to go. http://38super.net/Pages/Brass.html

Just not sure how many times it might be safe for....

kineteks
I have a brand new Razorcat in SC and my brass looks similar w/8.2 N350/124 MG/1.245 LOA using new SL brass. I'm using a EGW/Lee sizing die and that seems to take care of it. I plan to reload it 'till it splits or the primers fall out. Out of curiosity, I'm getting about .010" of bulge diametrically, have you miked any of your brass?

Rick88
If all your new brass looks like that you got a bad barrel. Sorry
kineteks
I don't claim to be an authority but I didn't think .010" bulge was a particularly big deal in 38 Super major. I know the 38 SC case is a bit more stout but.....
Rick88
You both have Cat guns with the same problem, Your barrels are out of spec dont take my word for it check it... I'm sure someone with a non bulging brass barrel will give you the specs if you ask.
