Outstanding read. The glomar explorer is live and well today drilling deepwater exploration wells. An amazing piece of technology for its day and the stories behind its construction and recovery operations are the stuff movies are made of. Some very talented and bright drilling rig hands left their families for some while as they built this machine in total secrecy and some of these fine men were even tricked in to recovering the bodies by their CIA supervisors but then again you wouldn't expect ny less from an oilfield hand who gets to play James bond and serve their country at the same time.
