a.roberts
You just barely grazed it. First day I had my chrono, I smack the bullet into an upright and send it flying downrange. When I finally find it, it looks like a really narrow "U." I now use skewers.

outerlimits
Had a pro chrono once-put a 130 gr round right thru the face plate-lots of plastic flew out the back. Back then you sent $25 and the injured chrono and you got a repaired one back. Finally killed it for good chronoing slugs. Forgot the optic offset...not much to mail back at that point. PKT1106
If it makes you feel better, I put a round through the screen and blasted a sensor the first day I had my Prochrono Digital at the range. CED has a great repalcement policy if you ever do that. But, a metal rod is way less.

Poppa Bear
I had the IR screens on it when I hit mine. Had to snap them back together because the snap of the rod took it apart at the seams.
BostonBullit
I hit my Chrony Beta the exact same way but the 180gr JHP tumbled downward and almost took out the rear sensor...I have a nice bent metal lip on the back of the thing to remind me to take it slow and steady... RePete
Did you call it? Or did the chrono do that for you? When shooting chronographs I like to go for a group! Funny, I have the same one shot group in my NEW PACT sensors.
pops1982
Of course I called it. After all I was aiming at it. Edited September 1, 2012 by pops1982
ProGunGuy
put blue tape at on the ends of the rods and mark a shooting area. Shoot anywhere in the marked area will save your chrono
quicky06
Did the same thing with a 45 acp. At least the rod kits are cheap. Midway had them a couple months ago
cecil
Go to Home Depot.. buy 3/16" wood dowels.. replace the metal rods... 3/16" wood dowels are cheap.. and when shot... they don't hurt the electronics..
