Classic_jon
I am looking to replace my stock cheap Red dot with a better one and have been looking at the Trijicon SRS as it is in my budget range. http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product1.php?id=SRS Any thoughts on a good replacement red dot for Carbine or 3-gun would be appreciated. Biz
I Have never used Trijicon SRS, however I have read articles and reviews about them, and all seemed pretty good. I do own a Trijicon acog scope and that was one my best buys, they are expensive but I do highly suggest them.

For three gun get the Prisimatic from Leupold because you can have hold overs. For a work of defense gun its a great sight comparable to an Aimpoint. I personally prefer the T1/H1 in that application. Pat

Adrian
Pat Rogers said one died in one of his carbine classes. Electronics just died. I might buy something with an established track record.
anthem
I have one on my ar. Haven't tried to use it for really long range, but love the large FOV. It's a big piece of glass but doesn't weight that much on an AR. I replaced an eotech XPS2-2 with the SRS and couldn't have been happier.
ltdmstr
Very nice optic. Surprised to hear about reliability issues, as Trijicon stuff is usually top quality. I've looked at these several times and compared the to Aimpoint H1/Tq at the SHOT Show last week. I was just about to pull the trigger and order one for a new carbine, and then I saw that the darn thing weighs close to a pound (14+ oz.). I didn't notice the weight on the plastic dummy rifles, but that's a lot. So I decided to go with a Aimpoint H1 (2MOA) and LaRue mount, which weighs under 4 oz. Adrian
It's not a bad optic, but it is brand new. There are bound to be issues. It's a good concept, which over time will give way to a solid optic.
anthem
It is definitely heavier than the smaller optics like H1/T1 or RMR type of optics. If you're hauling around for long periods - then its a factor to consider. But in terms of CQB and other things - the SRS will blow away most others since the large FOV and view through the optic is much easier to work with. It's good essentially from 10 ft out (haven't shot past 100 since the ranges here are only that large).
DaveTimm
Anything man made can fail so don't let one report of a down srs steer you away. I have three dead aimpoint comp m4's on my desk now waiting to go back to the mother ship so anything can fail. I got to shoot a demo rifle with the srs and was impressed with the sight. The view was nice and I didn't have as much of the "straw" or tube look. I have a bunch of aimpoints already otherwise I'd give it a strong look. ltdmstr
Having looked at the two almost side by side, I thought the larger view with the SRS was a big advantage over the Aimpoint. Only reason I didn't go with the SRS is I'm really trying to get the weight down on the gun I'm building. I'll probably get one for the next project.
